In 1788 during the ratification of the Constitution of the United States, Samuel Adams famously proposed the following be added as an amendment. The 2nd amendment was adopted. There is no way to misinterpret what the founding fathers intended. Don't be misled by politicians or any others who hope to disarm the populace for complete control.
